Happy To Be Back
I am happy to be back on here sharing all of the fabulous things we have been doing the last two months.
Here students are working on subitizing with teen numbers. Whichever number they spun they had to find it on their paper in tally form, on a ten frame, using ten rods and ones, etc.
Below are some pictures from a day that they explored blubber as a way that many polar animals keep warm. They were honestly unsure how the "Blubber Glove" would withstand the cold water, but it did end up protecting their hands from the cold water.
Another favorite game during the last two months has been Race to 50 or Race to 100. Students develop a greater understanding of numbers and how they build on each other to make new numbers.
At the end of January we completed a book study on The Mitten by Jan Brett. Here the students are taking turns producing and acting out the story using a parachute as the mitten.
After learning about animals that hibernate students worked in pairs to create a shelter for an animal of their choice (which they also made from play-dough)
In math students have been looking at ways to use smaller shapes to create bigger shapes and designs.
